Troubleshooting
Privacy & Security settings control the system permissions ProCapture Backup needs to function correctly. In the Files and Folders section, be sure to allow access for ProCapture Backup so it can read from memory cards and write to your selected backup locations. Turning on ProCapture Backup in these settings ensures the application can run properly and complete backups without interruptions or permission errors.

The Global Log (globallog.txt) is a diagnostic file that records background activity in the application. It tracks which machines and user names have performed backups, along with where those backups were saved. This log is primarily useful if you have multiple machines performing backups and need a record of what has been completed and where the data was stored.
- If you contact Support, you may be asked to provide the globallog.txt file to help diagnose issues or verify backup activity. The log is created automatically and does not affect normal use of the software.
- The global log continues to grow over time. You can archive or delete the file at any time to start a new log.

The Debug Log provides detailed diagnostic information that can help identify specific issues within the application. To access the Debug Log, OptionAlt + Click the Help menu on the main interface. When accessed this way, the Debug Log will appear as an additional menu option.
- Only use the Debug Log if you are specifically asked to do so by a member of the Support team, as it contains advanced technical information intended for troubleshooting purposes.

A sidecar file is a small, separate file that travels alongside a primary image or video file. It stores additional information such as metadata, settings, or adjustments without changing the original file. Sidecar files usually share the same filename as the main file but use a different extension. When ProCapture Backup performs a backup, sidecar files are copied along with their associated image or video files, ensuring important metadata and settings stay linked to the originals.
