Managing Mats

Mats are managed by the Mat & Style Designer.  Go to the top menu, Products > Traditional Mats & Virtual Styles > Designer.

  • There are two tabs in the Mat & Style Designer.  Be sure to select the "Traditional" tab to work with Traditional Mats.
  • A list of all available mats appears in the top-left.  Once a mat is selected, a preview of that mat will appear on the right.
  • The design settings and details of a selected mat appear in the bottom half of the dialog.  Learn more about designing mats here.

Mat Design List
  • Drop-Down Arrow: This allows you to expand or collapse mat folders.
  • Name: The traditional mat name.
  • Size: This column lists the width of the mat.
  • Lock: This particular mat is from a Supplier Collection and cannot be modified.
  • Drag the mats to reposition them in the list.
  • When you select a mat from the list, the details regarding that mat appear below in the "Design Settings" and "Design Details" areas.

A number of options appear when you are previewing a mat.

  • From the drop-down list, choose a product size.
  • View the mat as an outer mat on a print.
  • View the mat as it would look on a single-opening traditional matted product.
  • View the mat as it would look on a multiple-opening traditional matted product.
  • Select Zoom x2 to view the details more closely.

Add a New Mat
  • Use the Add button to create a new mat.  Once created, you can rename the mat and configure it in the Design Details area. 
  • Alternatively, use the duplicate button to copy a pre-existing mat.  Once created, rename and modify the duplicate.
  • Drag the mat to reposition it in the list or add it to a folder.
Create New Folder
  1. Click on the New Folder button.
  2. Type in a name for the group (folder).
  3. Optionally assign a Supplier and a Price Group.
  4. Once the folder is set up, you can drag mats into it.
Deleting Mats

Select a mat and click on the Delete button.

Rename/Edit Mat

Use the Design Settings area to rename a mat.  You can also optionally assign a supplier to a mat.  If you need to change any design elements, click on Design Custom Mats to learn more.

Traditional Mats can be converted to a Virtual Style.

  1. Select the "Traditional" tab at the top of the Mat & Style Designer window.
  2. Select a mat and click on the Duplicate button.  



  3. Select "Virtual Style" as the type.  
  4. Type in a name.
  5. Group: select the folder where you want the virtual style placed, or choose Base-Level.
  6. Click the Duplicate button.
  7. The traditional mat has now been added as a virtual style.  Click on the "Virtual Styles" tab at the top of the window to view it.

When you add a new mat, the price group assigned will be "NAP: No Assigned Price."

  1. Select the mat.
  2. Optionally choose a Supplier from the drop-down list.
  3. Click on the Price Group list and select a price group.  If you don't have your price group set up yet, click on the Setup button.  You can create it in the Frame & Mat Pricing Manager.
  4. Click Apply Changes to apply the new settings.
