Suggested ProSelect Workflow
This article describes one possible workflow based around ProSelect.  It covers everything from the Shoot through to Production.  It is based on using a RAW + Jpeg workflow as described in this article.

SALES & PRESENTATION

1.   Open ProSelect Album and BackUp Raws

  • Shoot Raw & Small Jpeg with Expo Disc
  • On Production computer, Duplicate Master Client Folder (refer Section 8.)
  • Copy Cards into Raw & Jpeg Folder  --  Rename or Prefix with Job No. as required
  • Either Back up entire shoot now or after Culling in ProSelect
  • Drag & Drop Raw & Small Jpeg Folder into ProSelect Maybe Tab
  • Sets - Favourites, Support, Remainder, Culled, Retouched
  • Move any Grey cards to Support Set
  • Cull by moving to No Tab -  Select all and move to Culled Set - then Move all No Original Images from Raw & Jeg Folder to Culled Folder
  • Back up Client Folder (excluding Culled sub-folder) on CD/DVD

2.   Pre-touching (if required)

  • Run Custom Actions on selected images
  • To swap heads or combine images, select images to combine and Command T opens Jpegs in Photoshop
  • Combine elements into a main image and save, replacing previous jpg. (If you wish to keep original jpeg, rename (add A) or move to another folder before saving)
  • Add new adjusted image back into ProSelect Album and add a Note to image listing the file names of any added elements (eg Mary’s smile from 3829)
  • Move all the element images to “Support”  Set (refer Section 1.)

3.   Prepare Images for Viewing

  • Make any cropping adjustments and change images to Sepia / B&W
  • Prepare Layouts
  • Set up client details in Order Groups
  • Move Best 20-30 to Yes Tab for Slide Show
  • Save ProSelect Album
  • Copy Album to Sales Room Computer

4.   Client Viewing

  • Show Slide Show with Music
  • Combine Yes tab back with Maybe and help client choose shortlist
  • Add  any Notes -- Project real size  --  composites  --  templates/edges
  • Place Order  --  Order Adjustments - take deposit and note on invoice
  • Printout 2 copies of Order/Invoice, one for client to sign to OK order which Production can use, and one for client to keep.
  • Save Album and copy back to Production Computer

PRODUCTION

5.   Production

  • Order any additional support images (grey cards or elements for head swap image) under a new Order Group called Support - order as 0x0” Support Image $0.00
  • Move Original ordered images to Master Images Folder
  • Produce High-Res Images --  Check Preferences to your output requirements
  • Select images and Open Raws in Photoshop  (or you can use another raw converter outside of ProSelect)
  • Adjust Raw images, convert and save as Tiffs in same folder, Master Images Folder
  • Relink All - Flag Orange
  • Select images and Open in Photoshop, complete retouching and save --  Flag Green
  • Check All image boxes and Make High-Res Images

6.   Archiving

  • Copy Retouched images into ProSelect Client Album “Retouched” Set
  • Downsize retouched masters to “10” jpegs and move to Annual Master Gallery Folder (Refer Section 7.)
  • Add jpegs to Annual Master Gallery ProSelect Album
  • Backup Client “Album & Print Order” folder onto DVD (refer Section 8.)
  • Delete Client job from computer

7.   Annual Master Gallery

Keep all your finished client work at your fingertips by creating an annual album - eg. Finished Client Images 2007,
and name the sets, Babies, Families, Seniors, etc. When a job is finished, load your retouched images into this album.

This will allow you to have ready all your recent finished images for updating your website, or showing as a slide show to potential clients.  Also, by making a 10 Jpeg copy and keeping it in an adjourning folder, you will have the finished images ready for any artwork, exhibitions or competitions, rather than sorting through each clients archives.

8.   Master Client Folder

Using Job Number, and/or Client Name, and Date with the following sub-folders as shown:

9384 Robinson 1-12-07  >
Culled
Raw & Jpeg
Album & Print Order   >
Master Images
ProSelect Album
Sized Images

Set this up as an empty Master Folder in your Client Images Area and duplicate for each new Client.
When job is finished and ready to be archived, only the “Album & Print Order” folder and sub-folders need to be burnt to CD/DVD.
