Mixing versions of ProSelect

With each new release of ProSelect we are adding new features and facilities. This usually requires that additional information is stored in the saved Album files, the preferences files and the Prices & Templates data file.

While newer versions "know" about the differences from older versions and will happily load albums and data created and/or saved using older versions of the software, this is not true the other way around.

As a consequence, if you run an older version of ProSelect AFTER running a newer version then very likely you will loose some of the information saved by the newer version.

Likewise, opening an album file saved using a newer version of ProSelect in an older version of ProSelect will also cause you to loose valuable data (and in some cases, will not open at all).

Therefore it is very important that when you update or upgrade to a newer version of the ProSelect software you:

  1. Upgrade each ProSelect software installation to the newer version
  2. You do not go back to an older version again. Best to uninstall (Windows) / trash (and empty the trash on Mac) the older version prior to installing the new.

You should also keep regular backups of your Prices & Templates Data especially when upgrading to newer versions.
