Template sizes and scaling

All layout templates in ProSelect are scalable (unless you choose to use the "Fixed Size" property in template editor), so when you design a template, the sizes are just used to set the relative proportions of the layout. This is so you can display a range of different layout sizes without needing to have a different layout for each size.

Sizes become fixed when you place an order of a particular size or add a page to a book (when Working with Books in version 4).

Scaling (ProSelect version 4.x or newer)

In ProSelect version 4 and newer, all templates are either either a Traditional Matted or Composite "Type" and the set template/layout Type controls how they are sized. Please see this article for more information.

Scaling (ProSelect version 3.x)

If you are having problems wirth the scaling of the template, firstly make sure that you are in Select Size View (the little ruler icon) else they will be scaled to fill the screen.

Layouts are scaled and displayed in one of two ways:

  1. The selected size is the size of the main image in the layout. This is used for multi-print layouts such as images mounted in a mat.
    OR
  2. The selected size is the overall size of the layout. This is used for composite layouts.

Which of the above methods to be used is determined by your selection under the view menu. Choose "Show Layouts in Multi-print sizes" or "Show Layouts in Composite sizes" respectively.

Please refer to the Reference Manual (Select Size View) for a full explanation.
Also check that you have correctly calibrated your screen size (See Preferences, Display Calibration in ProSelect).

Hint:
ProSelect version 3's optional high-res production will create high resolution output files of the templates that you have designed in ProSelect.
