Exporting Collections for earlier versions of ProSelect

Newer versions of ProSelect include features not available in earlier versions. To avoid problems with importing Collections which utilize a newer feature not available in an earlier version of ProSelect, all exported Collection files include a "minimum version flag".  If a user tries to import a Collection where the minimum value flag is greater than the version of ProSelect they are using then, ProSelect will tell them that the Collection can't be imported.

This feature is applicable to ProSelect version 2010r1 and newer.

Feature Minimum Version
Rotated Templates 2012r1
Styles with Images in Graphics Blocks 2010r1
Overlay Images 4.1.7 (released 2009)
Styles with Mat Images 4.1.7 (released 2009)

Collection Exporting

If you wish to make your Collections available for earlier versions of ProSelect then you will need to either:

  1. Ensure that they do not include any features not available in earlier versions, OR
  2. Export a separate collection for earlier version users, which doesn't include any items with non-supported features (such as rotated templates). OR
  3. Export them from an earlier version of ProSelect (WARNING: Backup your data if you do this because newer feature data will likely be lost)

Since newer versions of ProSelect may include fixes for bugs found in earlier versions, there may be other unknown issues when trying to use newer version Collections with older versions of ProSelect, so total backward compatibilty cannot be guaranteed.

Note: ProSelect 2010r1 has now been superceeded. Any users who were only registered for this version are now able to download and use the next version (2011r1) without any upgrade fees.
