"Unable to locate ProSelect Resources folder" message

If you are not using sharing and have just moved the ProSelect software to another computer or changed the name of your startup disk, and receive the message "Unable to locate ProSelect Resources folder" then the following will assist in resolving this for you.

This can be due to ProSelect using the old path to your resources folder which now different on your computer.

Firstly check that your ProSelect Resources Folder is still located in the correct default location. See this article: Finding the ProSelect Resources Folder.

Then:

  1. Start ProSelect
  2. When you see the message "Unable to locate the ProSelect Resources folder" select the "Turn Off Sharing" option and click Continue.
  3. Close and restart ProSelect and make sure that you don't get the message again.

If this doesn't solve the problem then:

  1. Start ProSelect
  2. When you see the message "Unable to locate the ProSelect Resources folder" select the "Work Disconnected" option and click Continue.
  3. Open ProSelect Preferences -> General Settings -> Sharing
  4. Set the Sharing option to "Shared Folder" and then select your ProSelect Resources folder in the default location (see above article) in the Resources Folder location box at the top.
  5. Click OK to close the Shared Folder Setup window
  6. Change the Sharing Option back to "Not Shared"
  7. Close Preferences
  8. Close and Start ProSelect and make sure that you don't get the message again.

Note: As of ProSelect 2015r1 and newer, the software includes changes that should prevent the occurrence of this problem.
